INIS Making Decision - 2004 Student Probationary Extension -   Notice re Student Probationary Extension – Next Steps

Inis

The Student Probationary Extension introduced in August 2012 allowed eligible non-EEA national students and eligible spouses to register for a two year probationary period.  During this period qualifying students were permitted to work for a maximum period of 40 hours per week without being required to hold a work permit.

As part of the Student Probationary Extension it was indicated that at the conclusion of the two year probationary period the eligible students could apply for a Stamp 4 permission to reside in the State subject to students being in a position to satisfy certain conditions.

Prior to 31 October 2014 - INIS is committed to making a final decision on all applications, in respect of students who were granted a 2 Year Student Probationary Extension during the period 28 August 2012 to 26 February 2013, by 31 March 2015.

In the interim period, while the applications are being processed students resident on Stamp 2 under the terms of the Student Probationary Extension can attend for registration on temporary Stamp 4 conditions for a period of six months. Students are advised that they will only be issued with this temporary Stamp 4 permission upon the expiry of their current Stamp 2 permission. Students can only seek to renew this on the temporary Stamp 4 permission up to a maximum of one week prior to the expiry of their current permission.

Eligible students will be required to pay the full registration fee of €300

Application Process and Form

The application process for consideration for Stamp 4 will be a two stage process. Non-EEA students currently resident on Stamp 2 permission under the terms of the Student Probationary Extension will be required to complete the application form and to submit it along with all relevant documentations. For more details visit: http://inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/WP12000012
