The Diaspora Women's Initiative is a registered non-profit, voluntary, nonpolitical organisation that stands for empowering migrant women to tackle health and welfare issues in Ireland such as HIV/AIDS, mental health and self-sustenance.

DWI was established in mid 2006 and started operations in January 2008 by a group of seven women from different parts of Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
