Hearing held in Valencia, Spain on the Integration of Immigrants in Regions & Cities

Mr. Luis Jimena-Quesada, President of the European Committee for Social Rights, participated in a hearing organised by the European Economic and Social Committee entitled "Integrating immigrants in regions and cities : avenues for cooperation between civil society and local and regional authorities".

The event, organised jointly with the government of the Spanish region of Valencia, took place on 31 March 2011.

It brought together representatives of local and regional authorities with representatives of the consultative platforms on integration of immigrants in order to learn about the best practices in their cooperation on integrating third-country nationals.

Gerry Forde, Head of Integration, Dublin City Council & Issah Huseini, New Communities Partnership represented Ireland's civil society and local authorities.

The European Economic and Social Committee is a consultative body of the European Union.
