NEW CHANGES TO CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

15 Nov 2011

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr Alan Shatter TD has signed into law a new statutory Instrument 569/11 introducing an application fee of €175 for all Citizenship Applications.

The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event of an Application being returned on the grounds of being deemed incomplete or containing inadequate information or documentation, the individual is required to pay another sum of €175 for a new application following a four week grace period to afford applicants the opportunity to provide the necessary documentation or information before an application is closed.

The sum of €175.00 is to be made payable either by bank draft or postal order to The Secretary General, Department of Justice and Equality. This payment must be enclosed with the Application.

NEW CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION FORMS
The Statutory Instrument also introduces new versions of the Citizenship Application forms and new Declaration Forms. Note applications made on forms issued prior to 10 November 2011 are not accepted. Applicants must use the current version of the Application Forms as applications received on the old forms will be returned. Form 8A is now Form 11 and both electronic Forms 11 and Form 10 can now be downloaded and printed on completion.
